Artium is a privately-owned real estate investment and development group headquartered in the Victorian spa town of Harrogate. Artium Group is the overarching company that encompasses its specialist subsidiaries Artium Investments, Artium Construction, Artium Asset Management, Artium Property Management and Artium Homes. This includes operating brands such as Artium Living, Artium Workspace, Allure Holiday Lettings and Alteza Student Accommodation.
Artium group was founded by Thomas Shotton and Sam Colley, out of the need to reposition an envious existing portfolio of assets to suit current demand. With a proven track record of previously completed schemes totalling a gross development value exceeding £200m, across a range of different residential and commercial mixed-use sites of both new build and refurbishment schemes.

Thomas Shotton
Director & Co-Owner
Artium Group
Thomas Shotton, Director, and Co-Owner of Artium Group has over 10 years’ experience in the property and business industry, specifically in acquisitions and development finance. Thomas is responsible for the business strategy across all the Artium Group businesses, particularly in the financial monitoring of budgets and revenue targets as well as the hiring and management of key personnel, clients, and service providers.
Sam Colley
Director & Co-Owner
Artium Group
Sam is a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and has an excellent record in delivering complex developments from conception through to completion and prioritising investor and operator targets within the financial parameters. Sam is responsible for the business strategy across all of the Artium Group businesses, particularly ensuring optimal value is added at each stage across the end-to-end capability.
Garry Shaw, Director of Artium Construction Limited has 19 years’ experience primarily within the contracting sector. Garry’s industry experience spans several markets and includes projects of varying values, complexities, and technical demand. Garry is seasoned in managing projects from pre-construction, into the delivery phases, through to completion and is supported with a BSc Hons Degree in Quantity Surveying.

Martin Watson, Managing Director of Artium Construction Limited has 27 years’ experience in the construction industry. Starting out as a ‘time served’ trades person, he has developed to become a renowned organisational leader through his commercial, design and construction delivery experience. With a diverse portfolio of contract delivery, across all sectors and procurement routes, Martin is an accomplished director, who is supported by BSc Hons and Professional Chartership.

Joe is a professionally qualified Quantity Surveyor with over 20 years’ experience in the industry.
Joe has spent a number of years with large national and regional contractors and has refined his skills on a variety of projects covering a diverse range of sectors. His customer focussed approach, professionalism and collaborative ‘hands on’ working ethos have been key contributory factors in his proven track record of achieving project commercial targets.

He has held senior roles for main contractors, consultants, along with working client side for a private estate. Ian is highly motivated, reliable and an enthusiastic professional with a determined desire to achieve, who has experience in overseeing projects from feasibility stage right through to successful operation.

Adam manages accounting, reporting and financial analysis for Artium Group. As a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants he has over 6 years of finance and accounting experience in a broad range of industries including property development and management. Adam oversees financial management and works with the board preparing for growth.

Andrew has over 12 years’ experience operating in the purpose built student accommodation sector building market-leading, premium brands across the UK. Specialised in successful short stay, holiday lets and new location start-up he brings extensive project management experience. He oversees development, rollout of our premium holiday lets, student accommodation and manages existing assets.
